2. Eligibility and Age Requirements
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account on the Services. If you are under 18, you may only use the Services with the involvement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who has agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
If you are creating a family profile for a minor child (including infants, toddlers, and adolescents), you represent that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and that you have full authority to make health-related decisions for them.
3. Accuracy of Information
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that the information on our Services is accurate, up to date, and sourced from reputable authorities, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Mayo Clinic, peer-reviewed medical literature, and recognized naturopathic associations.
However, medical knowledge evolves, manufacturer formulations change, and dosing guidelines may be updated. We do not warrant that all information is current, complete, or free from error. Always verify dosing against the measuring device and label included with your specific product.
4. Dosage Calculator Disclaimer
The dosage calculator provided on the Services generates reference dose ranges based on publicly available FDA monographs and pediatric weight-based guidelines. The output is a reference only and is not a prescription or personalized medical recommendation.
You agree to verify every calculated dose against the product packaging and the measuring device included with the product. KnowYourRemedy is not responsible for dosing errors, adverse reactions, overdoses, or any other negative outcomes that may result from use of the calculator.
5. Interaction Checker Disclaimer
The interaction checker provides general information about potential interactions between medications, supplements, herbal remedies, and essential oils based on currently available evidence. Confidence levels (“Well documented” vs “Limited evidence”) are clearly marked.
This tool is not a substitute for consultation with a licensed pharmacist or physician, particularly when multiple medications are involved or when the user has underlying medical conditions, is pregnant, is breastfeeding, or is administering medications to a child or older adult.
6. Essential Oils, Supplements, and Herbal Remedies
Essential oils, dietary supplements, and herbal remedies are not regulated by the FDA in the same way as pharmaceutical drugs. The following FDA disclaimer applies to all supplement and herbal content on the Services:
“These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.”
Essential oils are powerful concentrated substances.Only ingest an essential oil if the product carries a Supplement Facts panel on the label. Marketing terms such as “100% Pure,” “Therapeutic Grade,” or “Natural” do NOT mean the product is safe to ingest. Dilution requirements vary by oil and by age — always follow the dilution guidance on every remedy page.
7. User-Submitted Content
Premium subscribers may submit medications, products, or other information for inclusion in our database. All user submissions are clearly marked as “User submitted — pending review” until reviewed by KnowYourRemedy staff. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy of user-submitted content.
By submitting content, you grant KnowYourRemedy a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and incorporate that content into the Services.
8. Accounts and Premium Subscriptions
Free accounts include one family profile, basic dose tracking, and access to all remedy pages, the dosage calculator, the interaction checker, and pregnancy safety indicators.
Premium subscriptions are billed at $10 per year. Users who subscribe during the founding member period are grandfathered into the $10/year rate for the lifetime of their continuous subscription, regardless of future price changes.
You may cancel your premium subscription at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.
9. Affiliate Disclosure
KnowYourRemedy participates in affiliate programs, including but not limited to iHerb, Amazon Associates, Vitacost, Thrive Market, and Plant Therapy. When you purchase a product through a link on our Services, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Our remedy ratings, brand ratings, and recommendations are not influenced by affiliate relationships.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KnowYourRemedy, its founders, employees, contractors, and partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Services, including but not limited to:
- Adverse reactions to any medication, supplement, herbal remedy, or essential oil referenced on the Services
- Dosing errors or overdoses
- Drug, supplement, or herbal interactions
- Decisions made based on pregnancy safety indicators
- Reliance on user-submitted content
- Decisions to use or not use professional medical care
You assume full responsibility for any decisions you make based on information found on the Services.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless KnowYourRemedy and its affiliates from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the Services, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another party.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the Services — including text, graphics, logos, icons, images, the dosage calculator, the interaction checker, the pregnancy safety icon system, and the underlying databases — is the property of KnowYourRemedy or its licensors and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. Continued use of the Services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California.
